Funeral Services for Mrs. Jane O’Dell Terry will be Wednesday May 11, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Meridian with Dr. Raymon Leake officiating.
Visitation will be held at 10 am with funeral to follow at 11am. Graveside immediately following at Magnolia Cemetery. Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-Downtown is honored to oversee arrangements.
Mrs. Terry 91 of Meridian, MS was born August 19, 1930, in Bessemer, AL. She died on May 8, 2022, at Poplar Springs Nursing Center in Meridian, MS.
She graduated from Enterprise High School in 1947 and went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi where she played the tuba for the marching band and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science.
Mrs. Terry was a very beautiful and outgoing woman. She was a homemaker, later a business owner, and was involved with several social clubs in Meridian and Lauderdale County. Including the Aces of Spades Garden Club and The Meridian Symphony League, where she was a founding member. Her passion was children, and she played an integral role in The Juvenile Detention Center being formed, The Crippled Children’s Day Center (at the time it was in use), and she worked with The Mississippi Speech-Language- Hearing Association to bring their services to Meridian. She modeled for several local businesses including The Liberty Shop. She owned Bullfrogs and Butterflies children’s clothing store. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Meridian. There she taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir, and help lead an eyeglasses ministry to provide glasses to those in need locally and in impoverished countries.
She is survived by her children Steve Forbert (Diane), Charles Forbert, and Lisa Forbert. Her grandchildren Albree Florey (Scotty), Leslie Carruth (Bill), Sam Forbert (Rachel), David Forbert (Leah), and Katherine Forbert. Her great-grandchildren Scottland Sanders Sutton (Levi), Arlyn Grace Sanders, Shep Sanders, William Carruth, Ethan Forbert, Liam Forbert, Roman Forbert, Jackson Florey, and Addie Florey. Her great great-grandchildren Milo Sutton and Ivey Jane Sutton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arlin Clark (AC) Terry, Sr., her parents Jerome and Nettie Jane Dyess, her sister Doris Ruth Herrin, and great granddaughter Allie Carruth.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons Sam Forbert, David Forbert, Scotty Florey, Bill Carruth, Shep Sanders and William Carruth.
