Jerry Robert McCleskey

Jerry Robert McCleskey, 80, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at his home surrounded by family members. Jerry was born December 8, 1935 to Joe Dave and Annie Mae (Thweatt) McCleskey in Goodman, MS. He attended Holmes Junior College and Delta State University where he played football at both schools.

Jerry served in the Army National Guard. He spent his sales career with Corr-Williams in Meridian. He married his high school sweetheart, Sacia Elizabeth Kazar, in June of 1954. Their union blessed them with 4 children. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many friends. When he was not outdoors he enjoyed entertaining friends and family with his stories around the grill and kitchen.

Jerry is survived by his wife Sacia Kazar McCleskey, daughters Diane Slay (Bill) of Meridian, MS, Letitia Johnson (Doug) of Prattville, AL, Tonja (J J) Hughes (John) of Conifer, CO, son Mitchell McCleskey (Susan) of Marietta, GA; 7 grandchildren, Jami Slay, Shae Waddell, Crystal Myers, Andrew McCleskey, Taylor McCleskey, Jack Hughes and Josh Hughes.; 8 great-grandchildren; one sibling, Terry (Pete) McCleskey (Lisa) of Meridian, MS ; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

He is preceded by his parents, Joe Dave McCleskey and Annie Mae Threatt McCleskey; and a brother, Joe Dave McCleskey Jr.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 16 at James F. Webb Funeral home at 2514 7th Street, Meridian, MS. To be officiated by Jack Kern.
