Funeral services for Mr. John D. Carter will be held Friday April 12 at 10 am at Causeyville Baptist Church. Brother Gilbert Eaves will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Carter, 80, died Tuesday April 9 at The Oaks. He was a retired road inspector for Lauderdale County. Mr. Carter's favorite team was the Atlanta Braves and any team his grandson was playing for. He was especially fond of going to gospel singings, fishing and gardening.
Pall bearers will be Johnathan Polk, Sean Polk, Monty Sellers, Larry Wilson, Wallace Murphy, Thomas Williams, and Phil Bailey. Honorary Pall bearers are Kenney Sellers and Robby Smith.
Mr. Carter is survived by his daughter Kim Polk (Sean); grandchildren Ashley Polk, Emily Polk, and Johnathan Polk; nephew, James Carter; nieces Becky Moffett and Billie Jo Graham; an aunt Norma Jean Williams; cousins Sarah Hare, Jan Long - Robertson, Phil Bailey, Norman Bailey, and Thomas Lynn Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lucy Carter; and a brother Billy Carter.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 11 from 5 to 7 at James F. Webb Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Causeyville Baptist Church.
