John Lee Knight

Services for Mr. John Lee Knight will be held Monday at 10:00 am at Webb Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roy Dabbs officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Knight, 85, of Meridian, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at his residence. He was retired from Greater Ms. Life Insurance Company a past member of the Lauderdale County School Board a deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS ShangriLa during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Knight sons, John Lee Knight, Jr. and wife Joy, and Joey Knight and wife Denise grandchildren, Ashley Williamson and husband Jake, Davey Knight, Erin Dewease and husband Brandon, and Hannah Knight great grandchildren, Ava Williamson, Ella Kate Dewease, and Asher Dewease sister, Blanche Pickard brother, Lois Knight brotherinlaw, Jackie Plowman and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Knight one sister, and several brothers.

Pallbearers will be Phil Slay, Kenny Hurt, Billy Knight, Eric Plowman, Jamie Elam, Alex Plowman, Carl Reed Lummus, and Charles Harper. Honorary pallbearers will be the mens Sunday school class at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Sunday from 13 pm at the funeral home.
