John E. Simmons
Services for John E. Simmons will be held Wednesday at 12pm at Webb Chapel with Rev. Alan Singletary officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Simmons, 86, of Meridian, died Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the MS State Veterans Home in Collins, MS. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and retired as a Tech Sergeant from the Air National Guard. He earned a B.S. degree in Geology from the University of Southern Mississippi, and retired from Lockheed after 27 years. He was past president of the Knight Lion's Club in Meridian. He was a member of Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and sang in the choir.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nellie S. Simmons; daughters, Linda Crowson of Meridian and Sandra Cutler (Andy) of Gulfport; sons, John Kelly of Meridian and Jim Kelly of Starkville; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Armond Simmons (Lydia); sister, Margaret Jackson (Jay); and sister in law, Nita Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his father, R. Kelly Simmons; mother, Madeline Simmons; sisters, Frances S. Sparacino, Evelyn Sikes, and Mary Ann Shannon; brothers, Dr. Marion Simmons, Dr. Tommy Simmons, Dr. William Simmons, and Robert Kelly Simmons, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Scott Simmons, Roger Simmons, David Simmons, Andrew Simmons, Chris Simmons, and Joe Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10am until service time at the funeral home.
