John "Gene" Ivey

Graveside services for Mr. John “Gene” Edward Ivey will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with Bro. Paul Trosper officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ivey,83, of Meridian, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at Rush Foundation Hospital.

Gene retired from the Army Guard after 43 years, he then went on to work at NAS for 17 years. One of his favorite pass times outside of the military was playing his bass guitar. He will be remembered most for being a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his children, Lori King, Darren Ivey (Penny), and Greg Ivey (Savannah); 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; siblings, Edgar Leon Ivey Jr. and Linda “Sissy” Fielden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Leon Ivey Sr. and Lula Mae Haddox Ivey; son, Hubie Williams; daughter, Donna Lillis; wife, Virginia Louise Ivey; and siblings, Ruth Wilkinson, Mary “Sally” Todd, and Harlan “Moose” Ivey.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to service at the funeral home.
