Joseph John Churylo

Graveside services for Joseph John Churylo will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS. Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Churylo, 83, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Trend Health and Rehab in Meridian, MS.

Joseph served his country in the United States Navy, being one of the first to serve at the Meridian Navy Base where he was a Plank Holder. After his discharge from the military, he spent many years in retail as well as helping his wife, Nelda, with her beauty shop. He will be remembered most as a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his children, Scott Churylo (Mary) and Hope Avera (Danny); grandchildren, Drew Avera (Kim), Ben Avera (Ashley), Aaren Avera (Jacob Miller), and William Joseph Churylo; great grandchildren, Colten, Chloe, Lucy, and Joseph John Avera.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nelda Churylo; daughter, Angel Churylo; parents, John Z. and Catherine Madeline Behot Churylo; and sister, Janet Zeppa (Donald).
