Graveside Memorial Services for Joseph (Joe) Cleveland Nicholson will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS with Brother Paul Trosper officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Joe, 83, of Meridian, left his earthly body on Saturday, December 9, 2017, surrounded by his wife and children at Rush Foundation Hospital.

Joe joined the United States Navy in 1952 and was a proud Veteran of the Korean War. He was a successful self-employed business man who worked 7 days a week for many years.

Once Joe finally retired he loved riding his Gold Wing Honda, traveling in his RV, and most importantly spending time with his family. Nothing made him prouder than sitting in his recliner watching his children, grandchildren and great grand-children banter and laugh with each other.

Joe is survived by his wife of over 64 years Nora Alyce Tomlinson Nicholson, his sons Stacy Nicholson(Margaret) and Sabe Nicholson (Lori) and his daughters Retha Gunter (Mike), Jo Williams (Haydn) and Donna Lewis (Darryl), He leaves behind two brothers, George and Tommy Null and sister Kathy Null. He had eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stacy and Retha Nicholson, his biological father TC Null, and his brother Roy Russell.

The family would like to thank Dr. James Matthews III, Dr. John Voss, the staff at Jeff Anderson Cancer Treatment Center, Rush Foundation Hospital ICU and fifth floor nurses for the outstanding support and care that was provided to Joe.

The family asked in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Jude's Hospital or charity of your choice in memory of this brilliant man that touched so many lives.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00am prior to graveside at James F. Webb Funeral Home.
