Funeral services for Mr. Joseph V. “Joe” Sciple will be held Saturday at 2pm in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home of DeKalb. Rev. Chris Gully and Rev. Lee Hartley will be officiating. Burial will follow in Chamberlin Cemetery.
Mr. Sciple, 84, of DeKalb, passed away Wednesday at his residence. He was retired after thirty plus years in law enforcement in which he served twenty years as Sheriff of Kemper County. Mr. Sciple also was a farmer and cattle farmer and enjoyed working in his garden. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and loved fishing. His family will always cherish the love he had for his family.
He is survived by his daughters Vickie Bohannon (Bob), Linda Wright (Donnie); grandchildren Amy Clark (Ronald Wayne), Wayne Eaves (Tammy), Amber Garrison (Tim) and Chrystal Granger. Mr. Sciple is also survived by ten great grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren; brother Jerry Sciple; sister in law Nell Sciple along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Josephine Sciple; wife Helen Merle Fulton Sciple, four brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Wayne Clark, Wayne Eaves, Ronnie “BoDock” Sciple, Chad Wright, Phillip Wright and Eric Stokes. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Jackson, Jerome Jackson and Henry Frank Odom.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
