Kenneth Earl "Ken" Gunter

A celebration of life service for Ken Gunter will be held Friday, October 6, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., at Webb & Stephens – North, with Bro. Darrell Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Mr. Gunter, age 65, formerly of Meridian, passed away on October 2 at his home in Pearl.

Ken was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana and grew up in Meridian. After a couple of semesters at MCC, he joined the Navy and served his country honorably for 20 years. He worked as the Director of Mississippi Justice Information Center for the Department of Public Safety. Ken was an avid hunter and loved spending time with his fellow hunters at the deer camp. Even when he wasn’t hunting, he just enjoyed the fellowship with his friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ken is survived by his children, Joshua Gunter and Jessica Lunsford (Sam); grandchildren, Christopher Lunsford, Nathan Lunsford, Tawny Gunter, Mackenzie Gunter, Macey Gunter, Austin Gunter and Sydnie Gunter; siblings, Betty Slaton, David Gunter, Harvey Smith and Bob Smith, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, coworkers, and his beloved dog, Lokie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Blanche Gunter, and niece, Kim Slaton.
