Laverne Simon Busby passed away February 20th, less than one month shy of her 95th birthday. A wife, mother and homemaker, she was the third generation of her family to call Meridian home. She was often identified with her lovely azalea gardens which were showcased on several occasions in the local media. Admirers at times caused traffic jams, or strolled through the yard at their leisure. The flowers were their own reward, but she received satisfaction in knowing that for decades so many enjoyed the annual color extravaganza. She will be greatly missed and remembered by many, especially in the spring.
