Lawrence W. Cherry
Services for Mr. Lawrence W. Cherry will be held Saturday at 2pm at Webb Chapel with Rev. Mark Newell officiating. Burial will be at Bay Springs Church Cemetery in Kemper County at 4pm with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Cherry, 81, of Meridian, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Rush Hospital. He was a longtime resident of Meridian and retired from NAS Meridian. He served in the U.S. Army from 19531955. Mr. Cherry grew up in the Townsend Community in Kemper County and graduated from Dekalb High School. He attended East Ms. Junior College where he played football. He was a hunter and a faithful Ole Miss fan.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda Sue Cherry of Meridian daughter, Bonnie Annabelle Butters of Knoxville, Tenn. adopted son, Jeffery Cherry and wife Shireen of Meridian step daughter, Melinda Adkins and husband Rickey of Columbia, Miss. step grandchildren, Joseph and Travis Adkins sister, Helen Jones of Buis Creek, North Carolina and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Sarah Cherry brothers, Earl, James, Raymond, Arnold, and Fred Cherry and sisters, Virginia Byram and Faye McDonald.
Pallbearers will be Terry Cherry, Jim Byram, Bob Byram, Bill Byram, Danny Cherry, Joseph Adkins, and Jack Newell.
