Lewis Brittian Shepherd, 33, of Meridian, passed away on September 4, 2024, at his home.
Lewis was born to Matthew Wallace Shepherd and Lisa Leigh Covington on August 1, 1991, in Chicago, Illinois. Lewis, lovingly called "Britt" by his mom, was a kindhearted and loving young man. He was an avid video gamer, loved cooking and was passionate about operating heavy equipment. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, and currently worked for Lauderdale County Road Crew. He loved the crew he worked with, especially his friend Marcus Blakney. He was a very dependable and sensitive person. His absence is and will continue to be deeply felt. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lewis is survived by his mother, Lisa Leigh Covington; his father, Matthew Wallace Shepherd (Brandy); brothers, James Ross Shepherd (Meghanne), Jonathan Wallace Shepherd, and Brandon Shepherd; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Sidney Covington; paternal grandfather, Dr. Ross Shepherd; Uncles, Richard Covington and Steve Shepherd; Aunts, Carrie Covington Turbyfill, Kathryn Covington Kimball and Diana Rainey; along with his nephew, Carter Shepherd, who lovingly called him Uncle Choo Choo.
Lewis was preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Sessions; maternal grandmother, Rebecca Mooney Cranford; paternal grandmother, Barbara Shepherd; his great uncle, Johnny Mooney; and his beloved canine companions, George Burns (Springer Spaniel) and Grace Burns (English Setter).
Graveside services for Lewis will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Magnolia Cemetery beginning at 1pm.
