Services for Mrs. Lillie Mae Moore Melton will be held Wednesday at 11 am at St. Pauls Episcopal Church with the Rev. Brian Ponder officiating. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Melton, 98, of Meridian, died Thursday, March 14, 2013. She was a lifelong resident of Meridian and graduated from Meridian High School. After high school, she attended the University of Alabama, where she joined the Chi Omega sorority. While in high school, she met the love of her life, James Heidel Meck Melton. They started their life together in 1944.
A strong and faithful Christian with a loving spirit, Mrs. Melton was an active member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Meridian. For over 20 years, she loved to enhance other womens confidence by working as a consultant at Merle Norman Cosmetics. Mrs. Melton was also was a founding member of the Dusty Social Service Club and enjoyed being a part of the community.
Mrs. Melton is survived by two children: daughter, Pamela Melton Fort of Young Harris, GA and son, Daniel Trueheart Melton of Pensacola, FL grandchildren: Natalie Fort Moffett and her husband, Robert Breckenridge Moffett of Atlanta, Allison Trueheart Fort of Atlanta, William Ferrell Fort of Jackson and Matthew Melton Fort of Jackson two greatgrandchildren: Robert Breckenridge Moffett II and Brooks Hall Moffett nieces, Betty Trueheart Williams Martin and her husband, Joseph Bruce Martin of Birmingham, Jan Tolson Waterhouse, of Ocean Springs and a nephew, Thomas Edward Williams of Meridian.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Trueheart Moore sisters, Dixie Moore Williams and Jo Moore Tolson and two of her sons, Bruce Lee Melton and James Duncan Melton.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial on her behalf to St. Pauls Episcopal Church or Aldersgate Retirement Community.
