Lilly Margaret Whitlock, 95, of Meridian, passed away peacefully during the evening hours of Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Anderson Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Lilly was born to Levi and Ruby (Wedgeworth) Limerick on July 16, 1929, in Kemper County. She was a graduate of Long Creek High School and worked as bookkeeper at Woolworth’s for 35 years before retiring. She will be remembered as being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Lilly was a faithful member of Oak Grove Methodist Church for many years and loved serving her church and church family.
Lilly’s family meant the world to her, and she attended each sporting and school event in support for her grandchildren and great grands. She also enjoyed working in her flower beds and tending to her yard and garden. Lilly was a great cook and was known for her homemade tea cakes. She would bake them to sale at Christmas time with all of her profits being donated to the church’s building fund. Lilly was a very special lady, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
Lilly was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Ruby Limerick; her beloved husband, Leland P. Whitlock; her daughter, Gloria Ann Winham; and her son-in-law, Bobby Winham.
Those left to treasure her memory are her son, Dennis Whitlock (Vicki); her three granddaughters, Melissa McWhirter (Michael), Katelyn Moffett (Jesse), and Olivia Wright; six great grandchildren; along with three great-great grandchildren and a set of twins on the way.
Visitation for Lilly will be held on Saturday, February 22nd, from 11am-12pm at Oak Grove Methodist Church. Funeral Services will begin at 12 pm with Bro. Lewis May officiating the service. Lilly will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in the Oak Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers for Lilly’s service will be Parker McWhirter, Noah McWhirter, Kasey McWhirter, Jesse Moffett, Jimmy Hardy, Grant Brown, and Jim Fall.
The staff of Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North is grateful for the opportunity to honor Lilly’s life and memory and to serve her loving family during this time.
