Marjorie Ellen Sims, 84, of Meridian, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Ochsner Rush Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Marjorie was born to Weston Blake and Lorene (Flaherty) Fant on November 22, 1940, in Walnut Grove, MS. She married the love of her life, A. B. Sims, on April 6, 1957, and together they raised their girls while savoring their time together before A. B.’s passing. Marjorie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. After many dedicated years, she retired from Rush Foundation Hospital in 2019. Marjorie loved growing flowers and tending to her potted plants. She also enjoyed traveling, eating out, and watching her favorite television shows, Blue Bloods and Mountain Men.
Marjorie was a long-time member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she served faithfully for many years. Marjorie was also a proud Cancer Survivor of 28 years. She loved her family, and her grands and great grands were close to her heart. She was a special lady and will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Weston Blake and Lorene Fant; her beloved husband, A. B. Sims; her brother, Wayne Fant; and her son-in-law, Wayne Thomas.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Monda Fountain, Barbara Walters (Thomas), and Sherry Thomas; along with a legacy of nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20th, from 12-1 pm at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-North. Funeral services will begin in the chapel at 1 pm, with Bro. Virgil Walters officiating the services. Marjorie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made in Marjorie’s honor to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity of your choice.
