Mary G. Jerry Moore Baier
Jerry Baier was born June 13, 1916 and died May 1, 2010 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lewis Baier, her sister, Helen Moore Dawson, and her brother, Thomas W. Moore. She is survived by her sisterinlaw, Claire Moore, St. Helena, California her children, Joseph Baier Christine of Memphis Michael Baier Carol Ann, New Orleans Katherine Nelson Pat Southaven and Helen Claire Quarles Tynes Birmingham. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
She was born, raised and lived most of her adult life in Meridian, Mississippi, where she taught chemistry and biology at Meridian High School and Meridian Jr. College. She retired in 1968 to begin her second career as a tour leader. She traveled extensively taking many friends and family around the world. In 2006, she relocated to Kirkwood by the River in Birmingham, AL, where she remained in independent living until her death.
She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church. She was a loving mother and supported her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. A memorial service will be held at Kirkwood by the River Chapel on Monday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m., Richard Hannah officiating. A graveside service and burial will be Tuesday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Semmes Cemetery, Meridian, Mississippi, Father Frank Cosgrove officiating James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
