Services for Mary Elizabeth McDonald will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home Chapel with her cousin, the Rev. Paul McDonald, officiating. Burial will be at New Bethel Cemetery.
Mrs. McDonald, 64, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was born in Meridian on Aug. 2, 1947. Beth was an enlightened and wonderfully interesting person to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She attended Mississippi State College for Women Mississippi University for Women and graduated from the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Upon graduation, she taught high school art and later gave up teaching to further study and live in Paris. Throughout the remainder of her life, she continued to study literature, write and illustrate childrens books and poetry.
She is survived by her sisters, Catherine McDonald Strong and Carol McDonald Basalyga, their husbands, Mike Strong and Frank Basalyga a niece, Abby Basalyga two nephews, McDonald Strong and John Paul Strong and his wife, Amy several aunts and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving W. McDonald and Mary Nell Waller McDonald.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a favorite charity.
Visitation will be held one hour before services at the funeral home.
