Our beloved Mary Margaret received her angel wings on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018.
Mary Margaret was the fourth child and only girl born to Walter M. McHugh Sr. and Alice Callahan McHugh on May 8, 1929, at her home in Meridian. At Mary Margaret's age of one, she and family moved to Tucson, Ariz., where they lived until Mary Margaret reached the age of 8. Upon returning to Meridian, she entered St. Aloysius Acadamy, receiving her high school diploma in 1947. Mary Margaret earned her registered nurse certificate at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Meridian. She worked for a brief time in Corpus Christie, Texas before returning to Meridian. She began her lifelong nursing career in Meridian serving in the OB/GYN Clinic with Dr. Dan and Bill Thornton and Dr. George Howell. There Mary Margaret assisted with the birth of hundreds of Meridianites.
