Michael D. "Mickey" Taylor
Services for Michael D. "Mickey" Taylor of Enterprise, MS will be Monday, June 22, 2015, at 2:00pm at Enterprise Baptist Church. Rev. Macon Phillips and Rev. Taylor Wallace will be officiating the service. Webb Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mickey, 76, died early Saturday morning. He is survived by his wife Bobbye; his son Shea and his wife Mandy; son Teague and his wife Robyn; and daughter Jodie. He was also the proud grandparent to Talley, Sophie, Phillip, and Ellyn.
Born September 26, 1938, in Stonewall, MS, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He continued his education at Mississippi State University where he received his M.Ed. in Education and Ed.S. in Educational Administration.
He was a lifelong educator with over 40 plus years in the education field. He started his career at Enterprise High School. He also had stops at Nanih Waiya High School, Ackerman High School, Noxapater High School and West Helena High School. He retired back in his hometown at Enterprise High School. After retirement he continued to work at Calvary Christian School, Heidelberg Academy, Choctaw Central and Russell Academy. He held the positions of teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent throughout his various stops.
He was an active member of Enterprise Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was also an active member of Gideons International.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00pm at Webb Funeral Home in Meridian, MS on Sunday, June 21, and from 1:00 - 2:00pm at Enterprise Baptist Church with services to follow at 2:00pm Monday, June 22 with interment in Enterprise Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International P.O. Box 140800 Nashville, TN 37214-0800 or Enterprise Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LL "Blackie" and Zonie Taylor and brothers Roy, Ralph, and Jimmy Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Murray, Gary Taylor, Chriss Turnipseed, Ken Purvis, Bob Kyzer, and Tommy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Kersh, Don Turnipseed, Bobby Wilkins, Thomas Powell, and the Eugene Walker Sunday School Class of Enterprise Baptist Church.
