Bobby Woodrow "Mr. Bob" Smith, 91, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Anderson Regional Hospital in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017, in the James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Newbaker officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. unitil service time. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Bob was born on December 13, 1925, to Jep and Flora Peaster Smith of Winston County, MS. He was a carpenter for over 50 years, building countless homes in the greater Meridian area. Mr. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran, a deacon of Savoy Baptist Church, and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.
Mr. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Virginia Clark, Agnes Clark, and Dorothy Smith; and four brothers, Jasper "Cooter" Smith, Malcolm Smith, Curtis Smith, and Melvin Smith.
Mr. Bob is survived by his wife of 72 years, Willa D. Smith; his daughter Shelia Thomas and husband, Walter; son Ray Smith and wife, Gloria; daughter Sylvia Winham and husband, Benny; daughter Shirley Stewart and husband, Bill, all of Meridian; and ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Boman, Keith Frey, Jacob Thomas, Daniel Smith, Steven Stewart, and Ben Winham. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Moulds and Morris Moulds.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be given to Savoy Baptist Church, c/o Ray Smith, 5778 Highway 11 South, Enterprise, MS 39330.
