Nancy Gilbertson passed away July 28th 2023 in Meridian, Mississippi at the age of 75. A Memorial Service will be held at Webb and Stephens Downtown on 7th St. beginning at 1:00 PM. Guests are welcome to arrive 30 minutes prior.
Born in Beloit, Wisconsin, Nancy graduated Clinton High School in 1966. She then moved to Mississippi and in 1968 graduated East Mississippi Junior College followed by earning her master’s degree from Mississippi State University in Starkville in 1974. Nancy was a world traveler who was passionate about music and absolutely loved it. She was at band Director and Teacher at Northeast Lauderdale for 32 years. Known for her beautiful flute playing along with singing Alto, her interest also included a love for gardening. Arts and crafts were also a hobby she loved. Being a member of the Homemaker’s Club and the Red Hats also kept her busy. Above all, her faith and love for the Lord carried her through her life and was felt by those around her.
She is survived by her son David Calvert (Angela) and daughter Brenda McKinley. Grandchildren Claire Nowell (Justin) Brandon and Brent Almand, Brittney McKinley, Courtney McKinley-Justice, and great-grandchildren Bryson Boswell, Scarlett Almand, Lennox Almand, and Jude Eggleston. Her siblings George Gilbertson of Cedar Bluff, Doris Hatcher, Joyce Kitchens (George) of Decatur AL, Ruth Fulgham (Ronnie) of Jacksonville FL, John Gilbertson (Linda) of Petal Mississippi and her special friend Jerry Snodgrass.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Irving and Marion Gilbertson and her granddaughter Kasey Rigsby.
