A celebration of life service for Nell Allen Austin will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Stephen's Funeral Home, with visitation being held from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Austin, age 81, of Meridian, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 7, 2019.
Nell was born March 31, 1937, in Butler, AL to the late Gaines & Mary Smith and was a Clark Co. Beat 4 Valedictorian graduate. Nell retired from the Meridian Housing Authority, where she worked for over twenty years. She also worked for Barham and Stephens Funeral Homes for several years. Nell was a founding member of First United Pentecostal Church in Quitman, Mississippi and attended there for over forty years. In her time at the church, she could often be found serving, cleaning, and loving people. Nell was a loving and patient mother and grandmother and a faithful, caring friend to all who were privileged to know her.
She is survived by her sons, Frank Austin and Ron Austin; grandson, Taylor Austin (apple of her eyes), daughter-in-love, Angela Austin; a host of nieces and nephews; and longtime friend Brenda McLeod.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Austin, daughter, Kathy Austin Allen and granddaughter, Noel; her sister, Grace Miller, and brother, BL Allen.

Pall bearers will be Tommy Miller, Jodie Miller, Dale Carmichael, Bruce Allen, James Chavez and Larry Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike White and Jessie Chavez.
