Norma Mae Cooksey

Graveside services for Norma Cooksey will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, with Bro. Dale Moore and Rev. Cheryl Farr officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, September 22 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Webb & Stephens – North.

Mrs. Cooksey, age 96, passed away September 17.

Ms. Norma worked for many years as a bus driver for Collinsville and West Lauderdale schools. She also worked at Ponds Fabrics, NTS Water Association and optometrist, Dr. Adler. She was a very active member of Suqualena United Methodist Church and the Suqualena Community Development Club. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Ms. Norma is survived by her sister, Lois Sikorski; her children, Glenn Cooksey, Wayne Cooksey (Sue) and Norma Culpepper; grandchildren, Chris Cooksey (Amanda K), Scott Cooksey (Amanda S.), Curtis Cooksey (Farrah), Stephanie Gilbert (Eric) and Davina Mock (Alex); and great-grandchildren, Caitlin Farmer (Austin), Taylor Hester, Nicholas Cooksey, Blaine Cooksey, Adelyn Cooksey and Maedyn Cooksey; great-great-grandchildren, Elliot and Samuel Farmer, and Emma and Tucker Hester, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Loyd Cooksey; parents, Glenn and Geraldine Brawner; sisters, Ruth Phelps and Marilyn Frankenberg and brother, Richard Brawner. Also preceding her in death are her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Cooksey, and son-in-law, David Culpepper.

Pallbearers will be Chris Cooksey, Scott Cooksey, Curtis Cooksey, Eric Gilbert, Blaine Cooksey and Ward Calhoun.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in her honor to Suqualena United Methodist Church, 11241 Hwy 494 Meridian, MS 39305.
