Funeral services for Mr. Oliver Eugene Barrett will be held Monday at 10 am at Cuba Baptist Church. Rev. Mike McKee will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Barrett Family Cemetery.
Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Barrett, 76, of Lauderdale, passed away Friday at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was retired from Georgia Pacific Paper Mill after 42 years, and was an active Timber Contractor and avid cattle and produce farmer. There were several things that Mr. Barrett would say that he loved which included his cows, working on tractors and his cats which he cared for by his barn. The most important thing that he loved was his family. He also had a fond affection for International Harvester tractors. He favorite saying was " If it ain't red, leave it in the shed." He also loved raising vegetables for the community. Mr. Barrett will always be remembered as a loving person, with a big heart.
He is survived by his wife Judy Coulliette Barrett; son Steve Barrett and wife Kim; daughter Sharon Harwell and husband Jay; grandchildren Hailey Curtsinger and husband Adam, Katie Barrett, Nathan Barrett, Barrett Harwell, Bridges Harwell, Tyler Moore, Key Harwell and Kayla Harwell. He is also survived by his sister Lynn Barrett Hofman and husband Richard along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by His parents Joseph E. and Ava Lee Barrett and sister Joyce A. Hom.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
