Orville Anderson

October 28, 1928 — February 10, 2021

A private graveside service will be held for Mr. Orville "Shorty" Anderson on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Jones Chapel Church of God, officiated by Pastor Ron Leonard. James F. Webb Funeral Home was honered to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Anderson, 92, of the Clarkdale Community passed away Wednesday, February 10,2021 at his home.

Mr. Anderson graduated as Valedictorian of the Clarkdale Class of 1946. In 1950, he joined the Army National Guard located at Key Field  and also while stationed at Fort Bliss, Tx he won medals for expert marks manship. After his service, he worked as a carman on the railroad and retired from Meridian Bigbee Railroad.

He loved sports and was an enthusiastic supporter of Clarkdale athletics. He was instrumental in the development of the first Little League & Babe Ruth baseball teams in the South Lauderdale County area during the 1960's, he coached for seven years.

His greatest passions in life were serving God and his devotion to family and friends. He was an accomplished artist and loved working in his yard.

He was well loved by all and he truly loved the community. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jones Chapel Church of God building fund.

He is surived by one son, Leslie (Linda) Anderson, two daughters, Paula (Gerald) LeBlanc, Madeline (Tom) Crowson and a special nephew, Ronnie Thompson.

Grandchildren: Marcus, Monte, Tonya, Kevin, Alicia. Great Grandchildren: Jack, Jonathan, Wesley, Ryan, Devin and Sophia. Great  Great Grandchildren: Landry, Whitt, and Adrienne.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Price Anderson, daughter, Sharon, sister Jeannie and parents: Clyde and Willie Ethel Anderson.
