Palmer Rebecca "Becky" Holcombe

    Palmer Rebecca “Becky” Holcombe, 82, of Collinsville, passed away peacefully the early morning hours of Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Anderson Baptist Hospital.

     Becky was born to William Waldon and Cynthia Lee (Sharp) Smith on July 8, 1942, in Stonewall, Mississippi. She was proud to be the oldest of the six children her parents had, and she was very proud of each one of her siblings. On January 11, 1974, Becky married the love of her life, Ray Miller Holcombe, Jr. and together, they began their family. Becky worked the assembly line at US Motors before beginning her career with Peavey Electronics as Production Supervisor and later, Curator. She would go on to retire from Peavey Electronics in 1997, after serving with them for 27 dedicated years.

     She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Becky was also a faithful Christian and a lifelong member of Pine Grove Baptist Church of Martin. She loved gospel music and would be known to watch several Sunday services on television once it became hard for her to get to church on Sunday. She will also be remembered as a great cook, especially for her banana pudding and her grilled cheese sandwiches. Her grandchildren recall how she loved her daily morning black coffee and her Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. 

     Becky is survived by her loving husband, Ray Miller Holcombe, Jr.; son, Lee Paul Holcombe (Rita); daughter, Robin Gwendolyn Shelton (Danny); her brothers, Noah Carl Smith (Janie) and Kelvin David Smith (Debbie); her sister, Rachel Marie Haguewood; four grandchildren, Danny “DJ” Ray Shelton, Jr., Robin Danielle Freeman (Brent), Juanita Lynn Howard (Kevin), and Trevor Paul Holcombe; along with five great grandchildren, Keaton Danielle Jenkins, Gunner Owen Shelton, Ryder Lee Freeman, Garrett Tripp Shelton, and Kimberly Grace Howard; and several loving nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, William Waldon and Cynthia Lee Smith; her sister, Esther Ruth Dennis; and her brother, Richard Waldon Smith.

     Visitation for Becky will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 5-8pm at Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, beginning at 10am, with Bro. Kyle Naylor and Bro. Scott Carter officiating the services. Burial will take place in the Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery. 

     Pallbearers for Becky's service will be Gunner Shelton, Ryder Freeman, Steven Smith, Scott Smith, Kel Smith, and Tony Champagne.  Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Garrett Shelton and Andy Mars.
