Ralph Connell Henson Services for Ralph Connell Henson will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Northcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Beverly Henson and Drs. Rick Henson, Ralph Henson, and Malcolm Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Semmes Cemetery with James. F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Henson, 75, of Meridian, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a Captain of the Meridian Fire Department. He and his wife, Barbara, have owned Barbara Henson's Daycare and Swim-Gym since 1964. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved Jesus and was a strong Christian who led many people to the Lord. He was a member of Life Baptist Church. Known to the family as Grandaddy, Mr. Henson was a joy to all who knew him. Always happy and kind, he spread love and energy to everyone he met. He and his wife worked for years on the bus ministry and children's church at State Boulevard Baptist Church. They also worked a puppet campground ministry for seven years at Okatibbee Reservoir, where they gave many people an opportunity to hear God's word. Blessed with good health and a love of life, Mr. Henson bungee jumped last year at the age of 73. When asked what she did while he jumped, Mrs. Henson replied, I held his dentures. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara Henson; a brother, David Henson and his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Beverly Ann Henson; two sons, Rick Henson and his wife, Mindy, of Brandon, and Ralph Henson and his wife, Christy of Meridian; one grandson, Ben of Meridian; three granddaughters, Rebekah Williams and her husband, Leon, of Stonewall, Tamarah Fassino and her husband, Nick, of Frisco, Texas, and Rachel Maske and her husband, Brian, of Brandon; one great-granddaughter, Ruthie Katherine Williams, of Stonewall; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. and Edna Henson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, a group that brings Jewish people from Russia to Israel. www.ifcj.org. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.
