Raymond Cleo Reece, 85, of Meridian, passed away at his home on August 1, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
Raymond was born to Cleo Reece and Annie Mae (Chatham) Reece on January 13, 1939. He will be remembered as being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. On December 5, 1959, Raymond married the love of his life, Gladys Sue Allen, and together they began their family. In 1957, Raymond enlisted in the Army National Guard of Mississippi, serving as Helicopter Repairman, Helicopter Crew Chief, a Heavy Vehicle Operator. While serving, he became a qualified Carbine and M1 Rifle Marksman during his term. Raymond served as Produce Manager of Winn Dixie for 60 years before retiring.
Even after retiring, Raymond stayed very active with his gardening, especially his tomato plants, and being active with enjoying his family. He was exceptionally proud of his three grandbabies. He was a true family man, and loving friend, and never met a stranger. His family recalls how he was always there for anyone in need.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Gladys Sue Reece; his son, Raymond Phillip Reece (Candice); his brother, Lamar Reece (Wynonna); his sisters, Jackie Reece Schissler (Lee) and Betty Faye Fulcher; his grandchildren, Luke, Deuane, and Rayleigh; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Annie Mae Reece; his brother, Donald Wayne Reece; his sisters, Brenda Gail Skrmetta and Opal Lavelle Reece; his brother-in-law, William Henry Fulcher; and his nephew, Scottie Fulcher.
Visitation for Raymond will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 9-10am at Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-Downtown. Funeral Services will begin in the chapel at 10am with Rev. Jim Gordon and Rev. Jonathan Fulcher officiating the services. Burial will take place in the Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
