Richard Lyle, Jr.
Graveside services for Richard Lyle, Jr. will be held Thursday at 10:30 am at Magnolia Cemetery with The Rev. Brian Ponder officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lyle, 79, of Meridian, was the son of the late Richard and Elizabeth Lyle.
Golf was just one of his talents having won the State High School Championship along with other tournaments, and being awarded a golf scholarship to LSU. Just before college began, he gave up his scholarship to study Architecture at Tulane University where he excelled.
He was president of the Honorary Architectural Fraternity Tau Sigma Delta, a member of Whos Who, A.I.A. Kappa Alpha, and played number one on the varsity golf team. Also, a talented artist, his watercolor of a campus scene was chosen for the cover of the 1957 Tulane annual.
Upon graduation he was awarded the Architectural Stipend for travel in Europe. After studying Italian architecture, he was an architect in New York a number of years before returning to Meridian.
He is survived by his brother, Albert Lyle and wife Ary Jane nephews, Wilson, Patrick, and Charles great niece, Elizabeth and great nephew, Jack.
