Mr. Robert Harold Farrar
BRFuneral Service for Mr. Robert Harold Farrar will be held Friday, May 22, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Central United Methodist Church with Revs. David Price, Bob Peden and Mr. Jim Wall officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Farrar, age 85, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in Meridian. He served in the United States Army for three years during World War II and was a 1948 graduate of The University of Mississippi, majoring in Accountancy. He began his accounting career with Ward, Rea and Shaw, Certified Public Accountants, and transferred to East Mississippi Electric Power Association where he worked 40 years and retired as the comptroller. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Sanctuary Choir since 1948. He also served in various capacities as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Board of Stewards, and as Chairman of the Council of Ministries. He was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Winifred Hamrick Farrar; nephew, Jim Hamrick and his wife, Rhonda of Long Beach, MS; niece, Katherine Hamrick Foley and her husband, Brian of Auburn, AL; great nephews: Kevin Hamrick and his wife, Erica of Houston, TX; Brian Hamrick of Long Beach, MS; Ethan and Evan Foley of Auburn, AL; great niece, Kaylin Foley of Auburn, AL; one great great niece, Isabella Hamrick of Houston, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Coy Madison and Madie Lou Nash Farrar of Amory, MS.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Hamrick, Brian Hamrick, Dr. Phil Sutphin, Richard James, Jack Harrison and Jim McRae. Honorary Pallbearers will be Emmett Murray and members of Williams Sunday School Class.
