Robert Lee Bob Glenn
Funeral Mass for Robert Lee Bob Glenn will be held Thursday at 11am at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Jose de Jesus Sanchez officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday from 58 pm at the funeral home.
Bob Glenn, 72, of Meridian, was born January 18, 1942 in Marissa, Illinois and fell asleep in Jesus on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He attended Centralia Township High School in Centralia, Illinois and graduated from Ranken Technical School in St. Louis, MO. Bob was the owner of Glenn Cylinder Head Services and Biodiesel Fuels of Mississippi. He called Meridian home for the past 37 years. Bob was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a member of The Knights of Columbus.
Bob was a selftaught master mechanic, as well as a skilled machinist. He was a gifted inventor with an extremely creative mind. He was a farmer, truck driver, salesperson, oil rig maintenance engineer in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans and the Gulf of Mexico. He was an independent business owner, automobile dealer, realtor and a member of Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Barbara Glenn and brother, Kenneth Glenn of Centralia, IL. Also, brother in laws, George Koeller, Jr., Damon Dobyns, Paul Hess and sister in law, Sherrill Glenn.
Survivors are his wife, Olena Helen Glenn sons, Alexander Glenn of Ukraine, and John Glenn and Julie Glenn of Illinois sisters, Carol Koeller Dobyns of Marissa, Illinois, Bonnie William Coyne of Edwardsville, IL, Mary Meyer Hess of Memphis, TN brothers, David Karen Glenn of Irvington, IL, Curtis Tracy Glenn of Cheney, WA best friend, Anne Glenn of Meridian dear family friends, Lynda Massey, Helen Honey Massey, Beverly Massey and John Massey all of Meridian, John Lundeen of Hoover, AL, Leanne Lundeen Thrash of Collinsville and Ben Shults of Sparks, NV and many other nephews, nieces and cousins.
During Bobs years in Meridian, he became an excellent athlete, marathon runner, biker and triathlete. He reached the pinnacle of his success as the MS State Senior Athlete of the year multiple times. He also received the 2012 State Games of Mississippi, Dan Harrison Memorial Award. He continued these athletic endeavors even after surviving stage four throat cancer. Bob was an inspiration to all.
Bob will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor, his gift of gab and the passion and intensity which he approached all of his endeavors. He will especially be remembered for his giving spirit and selflessness. Pallbearers will be Butch Koeller, George Glenn, John Massey, Rob Williams, Mike Johnson, Ed Crafton, Terry Wise, and Chad Thrash. Honorary pallbearers will be John Glenn, John Lundeen, Ben Shults, Butch Terry, and Bill Webster.
