Robert Lewis “Buddy” Rasberry, 83, of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by “his girls” on May 11, 2024. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Rae Rasberry.
Also proceeding him in death are his parents, Mason and Warrene Rasberry and brother Jerry Rasberry.
He leaves behind three children: Vicki Jensen of Meridian, Mississippi, Lisa Essary of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Pam Kelly (Chris) of Huntsville, Alabama.
He adored his six grandchildren: Andrea Routon (Derrick), Parker Essary (Jennifer), Blake Essary, Audrey Kelly Hurt (Collin), Cade Kelly (Sara) and Robert Eli Kelly.
Paw Paw loved his sweet great grandchildren: Lydia and Madelyn Routon, Lucas and Gianna Essary, and Olivia Rae Hurt.
He is survived by his sister, Tommi (Dickie) Dickens and brother David Rasberry along with several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rasberry was proud to serve in the US Air and Army National Guard, including a tour of duty in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
He worked in civil service at Camp Shelby and was an active member of Cold Springs Baptist Church, while residing in Collins, Mississippi. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved back home to Meridian re-joining Hebron Baptist Church, where he was an active member as a deacon, helping with maintenance, and singing in the choir.
Funeral Services will be held in the Hebron Baptist Church at on Friday, May 17, 2024. Visitation will be from 12pm – 1pm with the Funeral Service following at 1pm.
