Funeral services for Mr. Robert James "Bobby" Verdin will be held Friday at 2pm in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home. Rev. Corey Fontan will be officiating. Burial will follow in Old Marion Cemetery. Military honors will be presented at the committal service.
Mr. Verdin, 81, of Meridian, passed away at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center on Monday.
Mr. Verdin served his country as a helicopter mechanic in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 24 years of service. After his military career, he was employed by Grumman / Lockheed Martin at NAS Beeville, TX before transferring to NAS Meridian. Family and friends will always remember his woodworking abilities along with his love of country and western music. He was also a John Wayne fan.
Mr. Verdin is survived by his wife, Lola Verdin; daughter Debbie Harden (Mike); sons Robert Noel Verdin, Gary Verdin (Tina); step children Connie Diane Back, Chris Noel Back, Debbie Rene Amos, Veronica Lynn Medlin (John), John Cossich Jr.; sisters Virgie Malone (Robert), Leah Josephine Martin and brother Edgar Paul Verdin. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sidney and Olivia Verdin; son Darryl Glen Back and eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
