Services for Rosa Forde Emmons will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Walton Jones officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Emmons, 83, died Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center. A native of Goodman, Miss., she was a graduate of Belhaven College in Jackson. She is retired from the Meridian Public School District where she was a music teacher for many years. She was a longtime supporter of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra and served on its board. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Junior Auxiliary, Fortnightly Literary Club and Heritage Literary Club. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Robert W. Emmons, her son Woodson Emmons, his wife Pace Cooke Emmons, and granddaughter Robin Emmons, all of Meridian. She was preceded in death by her parents, David Forde and Amanda Bailey Forde of Goodman, MS, and her daughter, Sarah Wyse Emmons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1116 23rd Avenue, Meridian, MS 39301, or the Alzheimer's Association of Mississippi, 1900 Dunbarton Dr., Suite H, Jackson, MS 39216, or the charity of your choice. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
