Services for Rufus Benton Moulds, Jr. will be held Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM, at First Presbyterian Church in Meridian, MS, with Dr. Rhett G. Payne, III officiating.
Bent passed away on July 4th after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Through the course of his battle, Bent remained steadfast in his faith and resilient in the face of many setbacks.
Bent was born on December 28, 1957, to Ben and Edith Moulds and was raised in Meridian, MS. Bent attended Meridian High School and Meridian Community College before graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi with a BS in Accounting.
Bent was a partner at Rea Shaw Giffin and Stuart, CPA. He enjoyed his work and many friendships formed over the course of his 40+ years there.
A life-long member of First Presbyterian Church, Bent served as a deacon, an elder, Sunday school teacher, children’s choir leader, youth leader, sang in the choir, and was the church treasurer for many years.
Bent enjoyed hunting, music, a steak and a glass of wine, but his favorite past-time was golf—playing, watching, talking about golf! He so enjoyed his friends, but his favorite golfing partner was his son Jarrod. As his health deteriorated Bent very much missed being at Northwood Country Club with his buds—playing golf or just riding around in his cart. Bent had a quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor that will be missed by his family and his many friends.
Bent was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Edith Moulds and his sister Juile Moulds. He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Katie, son Jarrod, and daughter-in-law Kara. His greatest joy was being “Toots” to his grandchildren Jase and Molly. He is also survived by his brother Philip Moulds and his sister Mallory Clifford.
The family would like to thank the many, many medical professionals who attended to Bent throughout his health battles.
“Life’s too short to drink bad wine.”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Center.
Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes are honored to assist the family during their time of need.
