Graveside Services for Mrs. Sadie Merl Burt Dalton will be held Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Eureka Cemetery in Cromwell Ford Town, AL with the Rev. Pam Randall officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dalton, age 82, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a member of The United Daughters of the Confederacy. She never met a stranger and dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was survived by her daughters: Sandra Gaddis and husband, Benny of Meridian; Geraldine Bateman and husband, Hershell of Meridian; a son, Alphis Burt, Jr. and wife, Mid of Dahlonga, GA; a sister, Nora S. Necaise and husband, Leo of Gulfport, MS; five grandchildren: Rhonda Thomas and husband, Keith; Rita Gressett and husband, Johnny, all of Meridian; Rachell Bateman of Brandon, MS; Tom Gaddis of Meridian; Ken Gaddis and wife, Misty of Pensacola, FL; two step grandchildren: Sherry Parker and husband, Victor; Jodie Brookshire and wife, Wendy; five great grandchildren: Sydney Gressett, Ryan Gressett, Chloe Gressett, Lacy Thomas and Scottie Thomas; seven step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Minnie Lee Ford Blackmon; first husband, Alphis Burt, Sr.; second husband, Charles H. Dalton; brothers: Walter Lee Blackmon, Luthor Randolph Blackmon, Samuel Bud Thomas Blackmon, Willie Robert Blackmon, Vernon George Blackmon, Edward Everette Blackmon; sisters: Virgie Mae Nester, Mary Sue Cross, Myrtis Lucille Price and Doris Evelyn Blackmon.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 8, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
