Services for Siddie Lewin Clayton Wedgeworth will be held Friday, December 31, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chaple with Rev. Robert Horel officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery at Lockhart. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wedgeworth, 102, of Lauderdale, died December 27, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Meridian. She was born on May 5, 1908 to William Lorenzo and Evie Covington Clayton. A lifelong resident of Lauderdale, she was a descendant of the Clayton and Mosby families who were among the early settlers of Lauderdale County.

Her education began in the public schools of Mississippi graduating from Ponta High School. She received a B.A. degree in education from MSCW now Mississippi University for Women and a M.A. degree from Mississippi Southern now University of Southern Mississippi. She was a teacher in the public schools of Lauderdale County for 40 years and retired from Jefferson Davis Academy in 1975.

She was a member of Lauderdale Presbyterian Church since joining at the age of eighteen. She was a member of the Pushmataha Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution serving as Regent from 19801982. A member of the Lauderdale Garden Club, she took great pride in her gardening as long as she was able. She was active in all community activities and received a Citizenship Award from the community in 1986. Her home held many examples of her crafts and hobbies, including painting, quilting and needlework.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.L. Lank Wedgeworth, Jr. sisters: Evelyn Clayton West and Nannie Ruth Clayton Cobb brothers: W.L. Clayton, III., John Covington Clayton, George David Clayton and Lawrence Howard Clayton and niece: Nancy Clayton Herring.

Survivors include her nephew, William S. Cobb and wife, Ann, of Lena, MS and nieces, Mary West Larey and husband, Lance, of Tulsa, OK, and Joyce Cobb Thornton and husband, Billy, of Lauderdale, MS greatnephews, Bobby Herring and wife, Elaine, of Daphne, AL greatnieces, Alisa Herring Cannon and husband, John, of Diamondhead, MS Patricia Herring Sullivan of Marietta, GA Debra Cobb of Meridian, Beth Cobb Barham and husband, Nick, of Brandon, MS Jennifer Thornton Lofton and husband, Brent, of Lauderdale, MS Angela Thornton Askew and husband, Thomas, of Diamondhead, MS and greatgreat nephews, Gabe Lofton, Patrick and Matthew Cannon, Clay Herring and Reece Barham, greatgreat nieces: Hannah Askew, Katherine, Tori and Libby Sullivan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at James F. Webb Funeral Home from 5 7 pm.
