Tena Louise Lopez Reed, 62, of Stonewall, passed away from this world on Sunday, October 27, 2024, to wake up in the waiting arms of Jesus.
Tena Louise Lopez Reed was born on April 28, 1962, to Tajauna “June” Whigham and John C. Lopez. She was born in the Bay Area and as a young baby, moved and was raised in Sacramento, California.
When Tena was a young girl, her parents divorced and her father, John, moved to Pittsburg, California, where he opened an auto repair shop in downtown Pittsburg. Tena would come to visit with him occasionally.
Tena’s favorite cousin, Kenny, introduced Tena to his best friend, Stanley “Eric” Reed. Eric became Tena’s first boyfriend and shortly thereafter, they were married. From their 25-year union, they had four children, Tajauna “TeeTee”, Yvonne “Bonnie”, Michael, and Lisa, all named after her family members. They also had one adopted son, Glen Taylor.
At a very young age, Tena accepted the Lord into her life. She made sure her children went to church and knew the Lord, as well. Every night she made them say their nightly prayers out loud so she could hear them.
Tena was preceded in death by her parents, Tajauna Whigham and John Lopez; her sister, Carolyn Lopez, her brother, Robert Lopez, and her daughter, Tajauna “TeeTee” Reed.
She is survived by her children, Yvonne Landry (Berton), Michael Reed, Lisa Reed, and Glen Taylor; her beloved grandchildren, Davione, Ashanti, Michael, Montre, Mariah, and Semaj; her sister, Judy Caldwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A Memorial Service to honor Tena’s life will be held on Saturday, November 23rd from 12-2pm at Wellspring Ministries International Church, located at 1719 17th Street, Meridian, MS. Memorial Repast will take place Saturday afternoon from 3-5pm, at the Quitman Multipurpose Building located at 101 Westwood Avenue, Quitman, MS. All are invited to come and share your love and support to Tena’s family during this time. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Tena will be placed at rest next to her daughter, TeeTee, in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Concord, California.
