Thomas "Tommy" Earl Goodwin

     Thomas “Tommy” Earl Goodwin of De Kalb, Mississippi passed away peacefully the morning of December 1, 2023, at his home.
     Tommy was born to James and Christine (Combs) Goodwin on September 18, 1940, in Macon, Mississippi.  After high school, Tommy attended and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi.  His niece, Beverly, fondly remembers how he “loved sports, loved food, was an avid runner, and Uncle Tommy was just a lot of fun”.  After retiring from the railroad and moving home from California, he settled back into his Mississippi home, surrounded by his best friends and his dog.
      Tommy is survived by his many loving nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and his two best friends, Leon and Lavon Grace.
     He is preceded in death by his parents; and his four brothers, Jimmy, Bill, Don, and Gene Goodwin.
     The family would like to send a very heartfelt “thank you” to all the staff at Servant’s Heart Home Care and Compassus Hospice that took such great care of Tommy in his final days.
     In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tommy’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
     A private family service will be held at a later date.
