Mr. Thomas Franklin Frank Smith, 87, a native of Clarke Co., Ms and longtime resident of Stonewall, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in California where he had lived with his daughter since 2001. Frank served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and in the Korean War. He enjoyed tinkering, gardening, fishing, and especially spending time with family and friends.BRBRHe was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Ellis Smith and Alice Calnora Ivy Smith; son Robert Smith, adopted son Ronald Smith, and all ten brothers and sisters: Bessie Heard, Audie Bonner, Louberta Smith, Sally Head, Ethel Evans, Odell Smith, Ocie Smith, Woodrow Smith, Angie Zillie Pilgrim, and, most recently, Lavern Emerson, who passed away just three days prior, in Houston Texas.BRBRSurvivors include sons Thomas Smith, Jr. of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and James Smith of Fort Bragg, California, daughter Susan Fitzgerald of San Carlos, California, as well as nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a great-great grand child, and many loving nieces and nephews.BRBRMemorial services will be officiated by Rev. Kenneth Owen on Sunday, December 13th, 2pm at Webb Funeral Home, 2514 7th St in Meridian, with visitation being held between 1pm and 2pm. Burial will be at Archusa Memorial Gardens in Quitman.
