Funeral services for Mr. Tommy Rayner will be held Thursday at 2pm in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Bird will be officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park.
Mr. Rayner, 88, of Meridian, passed away Sunday at Poplar Springs Nursing Center.
He retired after 49 years as an engineer and fireman for Kansas City Southern Railroad and was also a cattle farmer. Mr. Rayner served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was also a mason, a member of the Hamasa Shrine and member of Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are his nieces Donna Maria Rayner Hill, Mary Maine (Roy); nephews Jeff Palmer (Karen), Todd Palmer (Kim), George Warren Rayner Jr. (Judy) and John William Rayner. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rayner was preceded in death by his parents William and Gordie Rayner; siblings George Warren Rayner Sr., Billy Rayner and Mellie Palmer and longtime special friend Bernice Boswell.
Visitation will be Thursday from 1pm until 2pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Hamasa Shrine Transportation Fund, 5516 Dale Drive, Marion, MS 39342.
