Velma Stallings

July 23, 1919 — April 25, 2011

Services for Velma Marie Stallings will be held Thursday, at 1:30 p.m., at Graveside, with her nephew, Rev. Mike May, and Rev. Charles McGlawn officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Stallings, 91, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was retired from South Central Bell Telephone Company after 39 years of service. She was a longtime, faithful member of Calvary Assembly of God Church and was very active in the church for as long as her health permitted. She loved gardening, cooking and reading her Bible.

Survivors include her brothers and sisters: William Stallings and his wife Eula Mae of Cuba, Ala., Joe Stallings and his wife Sue, Myrtle Stallings, and Ruth Mae, all of Meridian nieces and nephews: Robert Starnes and his wife Marilyn, Mike May and his wife Karen, Teresa Nester and her husband Bryce, and Gina Hamburg and her husband Randy.

She was preceded by her parents, Sol and Minerva Stallings and one sister, Verdie Lee Starnes.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Calvary Assembly of God Church.
