Services for Vera Leona Anderson will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Binnsville United Methodist Church with Pastor Wilson Kendricks officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-DeKalb is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Anderson, 102, of Scooba, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Mississippi Care Center in DeKalb.
Vera was a member of Binnsville United Methodist Church. She served as a cafeteria manager and a school bus driver for the Kemper County School System, retiring after 41 years. She enjoyed writing poetry, doing crossword puzzles, and working in the yard. However, she had a special place in her heart for cooking, making wonderful meals and sweets for her friends and family. She was a very loving lady who took pride in taking care of people. She will be remembered most for being a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Lynne Parnell; grandchildren, Angela Brentz, Perry Parnell, Patti McKee, and John Anderson; great grandchildren, Aaron McLeod, Alisha Williams, Joel McKee, Caleb McKee, Lindsey Anderson, Holden Stephens, Allison Looney, and Justin Anderson; great great grandchildren, John Thomas McKee, Allie McKee, Lucy McKee, Smith McKee, and Audrie Looney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, James Anderson; great granddaughter, Leslie Hannah Parnell; parents, John Ervin Joyner and Rosabel Knight Joyner; and siblings, Mary Edna Joyner, Mamie Beatrice Joyner Gossett, Elias Leonard Joyner, and Emette Ervin Joyner.
Pallbearers will include Joel McKee, Caleb McKee, Aaron McLeod, Holden Stephens, Justin Anderson, and Brock Looney.
Visitation will be held an hour prior to service at the church.
