Verna Jean Shelby

Graveside services for Mrs. Verna Jean Rainer Shelby will be held at 11 am Tuesday at Magnolia Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home of Meridian is entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Shelby, 80, of Meridian, passed away Thursday at her residence.  She will be remembered as a most generous lady, always willing to help someone. She enjoyed the old style country and western music and watching the old westerns on television. The most important thing to her though was her family, especially her mom.

Mrs. Shelby is survived by her brothers Charles Rainer, James Rainer and wife Georgia, Paul Rainer and wife Pamela, Jackie Rainer and wife Glyn; sister Shirley Rainer, one grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dolphus and Rhodalee Rainer; husband Jimmie C. Shelby; sisters Charlotte Voth, Peggy Creed, Patsy Wright; brother George Rainer and child Judy Lynn Shelby.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30am to 10:30am at the funeral home.
