Vessie Thompson

Mrs. Vessie Thompson passed away in her home in Collinsville, Mississippi, Monday, August 7, 2023. A Visitation will be held Wednesday August 9^th at Webb & Stephens North from 5-7 PM. Her Funeral Service will be Thursday August 10^th at 1:00 PM at Webb & Stephens North. Burial will follow at County Line Cemetery.

Vessie was a retired LPN that worked many years in the Recovery Room at Anderson’s Regional Medical Center. She was also a devoted member of Midway Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly.

Vessie’s love language was food, and she would cook for anyone and lived to share her recipes, especially her famous pimento and cheese, chicken pie, and Black Walnut cake recipes, among many other scrumptious goodies. Her joy was found in feeding family and friends.

When she was not in the kitchen, Vessie loved to work in her yard with her flowers. At one time, she had 500 + types of daylilies and she knew them all by name. She would walk around her yard and check on each flower, bush, and tree and tell you exactly how to care for each one.

Her surviving family includes a daughter: Daphne Cottrill; two grandsons: Matt Cottrill and Josh (Stephanie) Cottrill; great-grandchildren: Savannah, Thomas (Tank), Callie, Jordyn, Charleigh Beth, and Emma; great-great-grandchildren: Lily and Liam.
