Walden Douglas Mahan

     Walden Douglas “Doug” Mahan, 80, passed away peacefully at his residence the afternoon of May 9, 2024, in Meridian, Mississippi.

     Doug was born to Walden “Tot” and Dorothy (Townsend) Mahan on August 2, 1943, in Lovington, New Mexico.  He was a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico.  Spending most of his life in Texas as an insurance agent, he and his wife, Carolyn, moved to Meridian just over two years ago.  Doug will be remembered as being a loving husband, father and grandfather and as a great provider for his family.   

     He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Debbie Mahan Schenk.

     He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carolyn Dunavant Mahan; daughter, Shannon Marie Baldwin (Jeff); son, Todd Douglas Mahan (Stefanie); brother, William Terry Mahan; five grandchildren, Harvey Lynn Mahan, Gentry Baldwin, Riley Baldwin, Layla Luttrel, and Jorden Terrazas; and mother-in-law, Shirley Dunavant, along with a niece and nephew, Leah Mahan and Lance Foster.

     The family will have a memorial service at a later date to honor the life and memory of Doug.

     The staff of Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North is grateful for the opportunity to honor Doug’s memory and to serve his family during this time.
