Wayne Long

Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Long will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Webb & Stephens - North, with Bro. Chuck Overby officiating. Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. prior to service, and burial will follow in New Bethel cemetery. Webb & Stephens – North is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Long, age 77, of Zero Community, passed away Sunday, March 19 at Rush Hospital.

Wayne was born January 9, 1946, in Quitman, Mississippi to the late Ocie and Eula Mae Long. He loved the outdoors and could be found camping, fishing or hunting. He worked for many years as a machinist at Soule’ Steam Feed Works in Meridian, and was a Disaster Management Coordinator for the American Red Cross.

Wayne is survived by his children, Chris Long and Laura Brown and her husband, Thomas; grandchildren, Emma Long, Baylee Brown, Zachary Brown and Dillon Brown; brother, Roy Long and his wife, Sharon, and sister, Linda Doggett and her husband, Jimmy. He’s also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ocie and Eula Mae Long, sister, Janet Long Smith, and daughter-in-law, Tina Long.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Long, Keith Doggett, Ryan Clayton, Trent Clayton, Zachary Brown and Dillon Brown,
