William Harvin (Bill) Covert, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the Care Center in Gulfport. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2 p. m., at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Harvin Covert, Sr. and Hazel Byrne Covert; sisters, Margaret Alice Covert and Kathleen Covert Gavian. Mr. Covert is survived by one niece, Dr. Margaret Gavian of Minneapolis, Minnesota, two great nephews, and a host of cousins.
"Booch," as he was affectionately called, was a graduate of Meridian High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. A veteran of the Korean War, he was in the carpet business for over fifty years living most of his adult life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Donations may be made to any Animal Rescue Center. Webb Funeral Home of Meridian is in charge of arrangements.
