William Jesse Denton, Sr.
Graveside services for William Jesse Denton, Sr. will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 11:00 am at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Owen officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Denton, 91, of Meridian, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Denton graduated from Mississippi State University with an engineering degree in 1944. He was member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After graduation he worked in Oakridge, TN on the Manhattan Project where he met and married his wife, Mary Peggy Denton. He owned Denton Industries for several years, and then went to work at the Meridian Navy Base as a Chief Civil Service Engineer. During his career he worked with the Corp of Engineers in Memphis, TN and the Bahama Islands. He was also an active member of Meridian Scottish Rite for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Peggy Denton children, Sharon Quinn Tom, Peggy Cannady Norman, and William J. Bo Denton, Jr. LeaAnn eight grandchildren thirteen great grandchldren and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse H. Denton, and his mother, Willie Spinks Denton.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Norman Cannady, Jr., Thomas E. Quinn, Jr., Brian M. Quinn, Mark Alan Ros, Jr., and son in laws, Norman Cannady, Sr. and Thomas Quinn, Sr.
